Originated fromtheResearch Center for Social History of Medicine(RCSHM)in 2014,the InstituteforMedicineand CivilizationatShaanxi Normal University(IMC, SNNU) isone ofthe earliest academic organization specialized inmedical social historyin China,with Professor Li Huacheng as the president. Guided by the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind,IMC is fulfilling the responsibility ofcarryingout teaching and researchin the field ofmedicine and civilization,fosteringhigh-level talents, producinghigh-qualityachievements, actively promotingthe transformation ofacademicachievements, constantly enhancingthesocial service function.
A.About the Project
Launched in the summer of 2016, the OralHistory ResearchProjectofMedicalPersonnel,MedicalAffairs andMedicalHistory inRural Chinais designed and presided by Prof. Li Huacheng, the dean of IMC, andhas now been a featured practical education projectin Shaanxi Normal University. Considering that a healthy population is a key mark of a prosperous nation and a strong country, thisproject aims tobuild a historical database of medical memories in rural China, thus providing scientific and intellectual support for the Healthy China Initiative and theestablishment of a community with a shared future for mankind. At the same time,it also aim toimprove thelevels ofsocialawareness and problem-solving skillsof youth who participate inthis project, and inspire students with enthusiasm to work for society.
B.Achievements
By September 2022,13 large-scale surveys have been successfully conducted,with844 students from more than 100 universities at home and abroadparticipatingin. There are33,489 minutes of audio recording/video materialsand about 7 million words of text transcripts.According to the statistics, the number of participants and reports have continued to risein recent years.
C.Support
IMCprovidesacademic training forallparticipants, and setsup research teamsto share experience andstrengthencommunication within groups.
Excellent research reports and papers couldbe published inJournal ofMedicine and Civilization,etc.
