Abstract:
Awareness and discovery of body indicates the birth of modern society, thus the Renaissance period is often defined as the starting point by body history researchers. However, if we trace back to Medieval Western Europe from this perspective, we can also find a group of holy women showed great interest on body in 11 ~ 13 century. Prof. Wang will “reappear” holy women’s cognitive on body with images, and their trying to get rid of the eve image under male religious discourse disciplined, as well as the meaning of how to re-construct female body.

By analyzing the public performance nature through holy women’s mysterious illusion, Prof. Wang will explain the specificity of their illusion and their contribution to illusion in the middle and late period of middle ages, as well as "reappear" holy women’s efforts to obtain identity based on body.

Abstract:
As effective analysis tools, feminism and sexism have excellent achievements in the Medieval Western Europe study, but also leads to over emphasis on sexual antagonism, thus ignores bisexual cooperation in the real society inadvertently or deliberately. Prof. Wang will reappear women’s religious writing in the middle and late period of Middle Ages, investigate gender cooperative phenomena and explore their own cognition of writing.

Dr. Wang, graduated from Fudan University, is a professor at College of Humanities, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.
