On November 30, 2022, the Institute for Medicine and Civilization (IMC) held the 11th weekly meeting for this semester. The meeting was presided over by Ziming CHEN and recorded by Zhuzhen ZHOU. There were two agendas: First, two undergraduates reported their research progress of the Training Program of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Undergraduates respectively. Then, Jianlan ZHANG shared the report of “Bloodletting in Medieval Arabic Medicine”.
First, Zhiyun DAI reported the progress, mid-term results and future planning of On the Publicity Work of the Patriotic Health Movement in Chang'an District, Xi’an City since the Establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC); Pengle WANG reported their research progress of Investigation of Minority Rural Doctors in the Development of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine (1960-2004). Then, Prof. LI suggested that team members should further clarify the research goals, do a good job in time planning, strengthen the process management and produce high-quality achievements.
Then, Jianlan ZHANG shared the report of “Bloodletting in Medieval Arabic Medicine” from the aspects of translation, theory and practice as well as the nature and effects of the bloodletting therapy. Then, Dr. Zixiang ZHANG and Dr. Chenhui WANG gave suggestions subsequently, such as collecting more historical materials so as to enrich the research content, etc. Prof. Li made a summary, emphasizing that history research should pay attention to the historical standard when conducting interdisciplinary research, and call on students to participate in the extracurricular academic competitions actively.
