On November 3, 2016, Prof. Shang Guojun’s lecture“Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Its Applications” was successfully held in Room 401, Wenyuan Campus, and this lecture had attracted more than 50 teachers and students.

Dr. Shang, professor of School of History and Civilization, Shaanxi Normal University, is engaged in research of Pre-Qin History as well as History of Chinese Thought and Culture. His main teaching courses include Ancient Chinese History, History of Chinese Ancient Thought, History of Ancient Chinese Political System, etc. In this lecture, Prof. Shang also showed a great talent in understanding traditional Chinese medicine.

During the lecture, Prof. Shang first explained the theory of Yin-Yang, the Five Phases theory from the perspective of history, and explored the historical origins of TCM theory from cultural layer. In the second half of the lecture, Prof. Shang analyzed application of of Yin-Yang theory, Five Phases theory in in the diagnosis and treatment, enabling teachers and students to grasp the basic characteristics of the ideological theory of traditional Chinese medicine.

After the lecture, teachers and students exchanged ideas with Prof. Shang. Prof. Shang’s explanation won applause from the audience. As the 1st lecture on traditional Chinese medicine, this lecture had broaden audiences’ horizon. RCSHM will conduct such activities with the support of relevant departments in the future, create a good academic atmosphere, and improve researcher’ academic ability.
